On 2 February 2026, Prof. Rothbauer, Professor of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Tübingen gave a talk, titled „How to bring science into business: A case study of a start-up developing nanobodies for biomedical applications”. He founded the biotech company ChromoTek in 2008, and it has since become a leading provider of innovative research reagents and technologies based on nano- and chromobody platforms. In 2024, Prof. Rothbauer co-founded ImmuneAdvice, a start-up that develops nanobody-based tracers for the diagnostic imaging of immune cells. Based on his experience, Prof. Rothbauer presented two case studies of start-up ventures in the field of nanobody-based probes for research reagents and diagnostic applications. Building on the underlying scientific and technological discoveries, he demonstrated how such research can be translated into viable business models and successful entrepreneurial ventures.
