On January 22, 2026 Jun.-Prof. Chengzhe Tian invited Prof. Dr. Jonathan Schmid-Burgk, from the Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology at Bonn University and University Hospital Bonn to give a talk. In his talk, titled “Pooled screening experiments to study the genome, transcriptome and proteome of human cells” he gave us insights into the field of Optical Genetic Screening technologies. His group studies immune signaling pathways at the molecular and cellular level, for which they are developing new technologies like CRISPaint and in-cellulo sequencing. Besides that, they are working on algorithms to search for unknown diversity in sequencing data with the aim to characterize self-diversifying systems.
